This Just In!

Ed Sheeran links up with Karan Aujla, Hanumankind, and Jonita Gandhi for the remix edition of his latest album Play.

A British songwriter, a Punjabi hitmaker, a Bangalore rapper, and a Toronto vocalist all on one ALBUM.

The sound’s officially global.

What’s Coming

The lineup brings together three completely different artists under one project. Karan Aujla brings the Punjabi lyricism and confidence, Hanumankind, one of India’s sharpest English rappers, and Jonita Gandhi’s vocals bridge everything together with clarity and range.

This isn't Sheeran's first foray into Indian music. We'd call it a continuation. His collaborations with Arijit Singh and Diljit Dosanjh already showed the potential. This time, it feels like a full-circle moment that blends language and geography.

The Process

The tracks were reportedly recorded between London and New York, with a music video already in production. Sheeran called the experience “exciting” and highlighted how each artist brought their own texture to the sessions.

“We’ve done a tune with Karan Aujla, Hanumankind, Jonita Gandhi — they’ve all brought something completely new to the table. I’ve always found Indian music incredibly melodic and expressive. It’s inspiring to be part of that energy.”

Why It Matters

This collaboration is all about reach. Multi-cultural South Asian artists sharing the same track-list as a global pop icon signals how much the sound has evolved. It’s all about that recognition. In today's world, where cultures blend and collide, the fusion of different musical styles creates a vibrant tapestry. This collaboration between Ed Sheeran and South Asian artists is an example of how music can transcend borders.

Each of these artists represents a different aspect of Indian music - independent rap to diasporic pop. Together, they paint a more complete picture of what Indian sound looks like in 2025.

What Fans Can Expect

The songs are expected to arrive as part of the Play (The Remixes) rollout on October 17th, 2025. Ed’s melodic structure layered with bilingual verses, trap percussion, and Indian vocal textures.

“Play (The Remixes)” drops soon.
